FAQs

Below are the “Most Frequently Asked Questions” about the MS/MBA Program for Healthcare Professionals.

What are the advantage of a graduate business degree?

Graduate training in leadership and management is essential for healthcare professionals who have—or desire to have—a responsible administrative or leadership role in their organization. Their success as leaders, however, invariably depends upon their understanding of modern cost, financial and information management practices and their ability to plan, organize and influence their colleagues. These are the critical skills that form the basis of the program.

Why should I choose this program?

The program is case based and highly interactive. Classes are led by nationally recognized business leaders and faculty with outstanding academic credentials and real-world healthcare experience.  This program is unique by the nature of having cohorts who are actively involved in their healthcare careers.  The shared and collective knowledge of your classmates extends the learning opportunities.

Can I fit the program into my work schedule?

The program is specifically designed to accommodate your busy schedule.  We use a blended approach to combine the multiday interactive learning on campus in conjunction with online assignments and cohort collaboration.  Each course keeps you actively engaged for two months allowing you to complete 2 of your 9 core courses each semester.

MS or MBA?

This program offers you a choice of a Master of Science in Healthcare Leadership & Management or the Healthcare Management Executive MBA.  Both are fully accredited, nationally recognized graduate business degrees authorized by the Board of Regents of the University of Texas System. The Master of Science provides the critical knowledge and credentials for those who have moved—or aspire to move—into a leadership role in their healthcare career. The Master of Science requires 36 credit hours that can be earned in 18 months at the UT Dallas campus. The Healthcare Management Executive MBA requires  six additional online business course which can be started once the MS program begins.

Where are the classes held? What about hotel accommodations?

The monthly 2-day intensive is held at the University of Texas Dallas campus in Richardson, Texas. Nearby hotel accommodations are available for program participants at special discounted rates.

What is the cost of tuition and availability of financial aid?

The tuition cost of the program is $38,628. Students who need financial assistance may apply for long-term student loans. More information is available by contacting the Executive Education Financial Services Manager, Paula Baxter or call (972-883-4114).
